Jay Fennell
Minister of Youth and Families
Jay joined the staff of First Baptist as Minister of Youth and Families in January of 2005. Before coming to FBC, he served on the staff at Northside Baptist Church in West Columbia SC as a Recreation/College Ministry Intern, Riverland Hills Baptist Church in Columbia, SC as an Associate Minister of Senior High Youth, and Wedgwood Baptist Church in Fort Worth, TX as a Recreation Ministry Intern. He also enjoyed 4 years of ministering to RA's in South Carolina as a staffer at Camp McCall in Sunset, SC. At FBC, his duties include directing the youth ministry, senior adult ministry, men's ministry, recreation ministry and the Upward basketball program.
Jay graduated from the University of South Carolina with a BS in Physical Education/Sportsmedicine and from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity. He enjoys playing sports, watching sports on TV, reading, eating fruit loops for supper and spending time with his family. What inspires Jay?.. “To see people passionate about Christ and using their talents and gifts to serve Him through ministry in the church.”
Jay is married to his beautiful wife Erin and they have a one year old son named Jack.
