STRENGTH FOR THE JOURNEY

We are enjoying marvelous fellowship at First Baptist. Last Monday, Harrianne and I went with Robert and the Live Wire Choir to the Maples and out to eat afterwards. There’s a reason they are called the Live Wires! We had a great time.
In my report to the Deacons at their last meeting, I told them about some traditional opportunities and new opportunities that will begin soon. We will have our traditional Ash Wednesday service on February 6th in the game room. This is a great time for all ages to come together. Also, it has become our custom to have a 40 day emphasis during the Season of Lent. This year our focus will be “40 Days of Promise” from Max Lucado’s book on John 3:16.
Following our traditional Vesper Service in the chapel on Sunday evenings at 5 pm, we will begin an innovative worship service at 6 pm in the FLC. The target group for this service will be Young Adults, but all ages are invited to attend. Then at 7 pm, a new support group called Celebration Recovery will meet. This is an opportunity for anyone with past hurts, hang-ups and habits to experience and celebrate God’s grace in their lives through the 12 Biblical Steps and Eight Recovery Principles based on the Beatitudes of Jesus Christ.
As you can see, there is something for everyone at First Baptist Church. I look forward to seeing you Sunday with a word from God’s Word on “Bringing Others to Christ.”

Your pastor and friend,
T. Dale Lynch

TO BUILD A WELL…
Some of our Mission Groups are raising money to help build a well for the people of Zambia, India. Our children have been learning all about their culture and how a missionary couple named Mr. & Mrs. Turner have been working and serving in Zambia…looking for opportunities to share the good news about Jesus.   Be sure to ask your children about the Turners and help them think of ways they can earn money to help build the well in India. It is important for then to know that they can make a difference here and around the world in the name of Jesus.

?MUSIC NOTES?

This Sunday morning our Sanctuary Choir will be presenting a brand new anthem written by Richard Williamson. This song, entitled “Rejoice Anyway” reminds us to rejoice during the good times as well as in the times of our lives which bring challenges and perseverance. We will also be privileged to sing this anthem next Tuesday night at 8:00 pm at Anderson University Fine Arts Center during a recital which will feature music written and composed by Richard. We are very grateful for the talents and abilities of one of our own.
